Childproofing the home

 At six months, your child will be able to sit by himself.  Soon, he will be able to crawl, cruise and ultimately walk.  Now is the time to baby proof your
home.  Here are ten crucial baby proofing steps.  We also include a link to an excellent site dedicated to making your home safe for your mobil little one.   

  1. Get down at your babies height and assess the areas that he/she will be walking.  
  2. Look for objects within reach that pose a choking threat
  3. Move all of your cleaning supplies from ground level and child-lock cabinets
  4. Cover sockets with plastic guards.
  5. Screen areas between levels
  6. Remove hanging strings that could pose strangle hazards
  7. Cover table corners with soft covers
  8. Remove objects that are top heavy (speakers) or unstable heavy objects that could fall on a toddler  
  9. Lock toilet seat cover and cover hot faucets and oven knobs with plastic guards.
  10. Lock away sharp or dangerous objects such as scissors, hammers, and most importantly guns
